The name of Memphis Depay has once again become a topic on the international market. According to Mexican media outlets and journalists, Tigres is monitoring the Dutch striker's contractual situation and may try to sign him if he does not renew his contract with Corinthians.
The information gained strength in recent days after publications by the Mexican journalist known as FAFHOO, who stated that the Monterrey club is monitoring the black and white number 10 as a possible option to replace French striker André-Pierre Gignac, who is approaching the end of his time with the team.

According to the publication, if Memphis ends his contract with Corinthians without renewing, Tigres intends to take advantage of the opportunity to sign him without transfer costs, only paying for the player's salaries.
After the initial announcement, other profiles and journalists specializing in Mexican football, including Arath Uva, also discussed the possibility of the striker reinforcing Tigres in the next transfer window.
Speculations take place while Corinthians continues in negotiations to extend the Dutchman's contract, which currently has a contract valid until July 31st. The black and white board is working to reach an agreement before the current commitment ends.
At the beginning of June, the club presented a renewal proposal to the striker's staff. The project foresees a new salary composition, reduction of fixed amounts and the installment of pending financial issues involving bonuses provided for in the previous contract, whose debt is around R$43 million.
Despite the conversations, the negotiations went through a period of greater difficulty precisely because of these financial issues. Even so, there is a sign that Memphis welcomes remaining in Parque São Jorge if the parties reach an understanding.
While the future remains undefined, the striker remains on vacation after playing for the Netherlands in the World Cup. The tendency is for him to only return to activities with the cast if there is progress in negotiations for contract renewal.
Even with three official matches scheduled before the end of the current contract, against Remo, Bahia and Athletico-PR, for the Brazilian Championship, Memphis also depends on the regularization of its registration status with the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF), after an incorrect registration indicated the termination of its contract before the correct deadline.
This is not the first time that Mexican football has shown interest in the number 10. In 2025, vehicles in the country pointed out that Grupo Pachuca, owner of Pachuca, León and Real Oviedo, was monitoring the striker's situation. Before agreeing with Corinthians, in 2024, Memphis was also speculated on at Monterrey.
Signed by Corinthians in September 2024, with no transfer costs, the Dutchman has played 79 matches, 20 goals and 15 assists for the club. During this period, he won the 2025 Brazilian Cup, the 2025 Campeonato Paulista and the 2026 Brazilian Super Cup.
In the current season, Memphis played 14 games, scored one goal and made one assist. In March, the striker suffered an injury to his right thigh that sidelined him for approximately two months. For the Dutch national team, he participated in four matches at the World Cup, acting as a substitute, accumulating 70 minutes on the field and one assist.
Before the resumption of the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians will play a friendly against Cascavel this Sunday (12), at 4pm, at the Regional Olímpico Stadium, in Paraná.
