Mayor calls Gusttavo Lima a 'thief' after singer postpones show and claims diarrhea
Gusttavo Lima was involved in a controversy after postponing, for the second time, the show he would perform at São João de Surubim, in Agreste de Pernambuco. He justified his absence from the presentation that would take place on Saturday (27) by saying that he had "absurd diarrhea". Hours before, however, he sang at Pátio do Forró, the main stage for São João shows in Pernambuco, in Caruaru.
The case generated a series of accusations. The artist was called a "thief" by the city's mayor, Cleber Chaparral (União Brasil), who took to the stage (see video above) and demanded the return of the money paid for the concert. Gusttavo Lima, who is one of the highest paid artists in São João de Pernambuco, received R$ 1.353 million for the presentation.

Initially, Gusttavo Lima would perform in Surubim on June 18th. The singer's team asked to postpone the show, which would take place on Saturday. After the controversy with the mayor, the singer canceled the performance.
But, according to the city hall, he only returned the gross value of the contract, without counting taxes and responsibilities for not carrying out the presentation.

On Instagram, Gusttavo Lima apologized for his absence, reported that he was sick and asked the residents wait for a show on a new date.
"Guys from Surubim, I'm so sorry for not attending today's show. Food poisoning. In other words, shit. I'm having absurd diarrhea, weak, in a cold sweat," he said.

Soon after the news of the second postponement, Mayor Cleber Chaparral took the stage, complained and cursed Gusttavo Lima.
"He's a thief of conscience, he's a thief of the people's money. Gusttavo, for you to be a man, take it quickly and return the money from the city hall of Surubim. You don't need money from the city hall, you're rich. You have it to give and lend, but give it back quickly, fulfill your commitments immediately", said the mayor.
Chaparral also threatened to withhold the truck with Gusttavo Lima's equipment if the fee was not returned to the city. He also asked the singer to portray himself to his fans on social media.
"They came here to see you. It wasn't to come see me, no. It was to listen to your songs. And you lack respect for the people who are here that night", he said.

On Sunday (28), the city council of Surubim released a note on social media in which it declared that Balada Eventos e Produções, founded by Gusttavo Lima, only partially returned the fee. The refunded amount was not disclosed.
According to management, in addition to being partial, the amount does not include taxes paid or fines provided for in case of non-compliance with the contract. He also said that he intends to go to court.
"The municipality will act firmly to defend the people, public money and the respect that our city deserves. The partial return does not end the case. The appropriate administrative and legal measures will be adopted, in compliance with the contract, legislation, contradictory and broad defense. Surubim deserves respect. The city hall will continue to defend the population", concludes the note.
