Digital transformation and the advancement of artificial intelligence have driven changes at the top of Brazilian companies. Research by Robert Half shows that there is a growth in demand for C-level executives focused on innovation, data and organizational transformation, with emphasis on positions linked to AI (artificial intelligence).

The survey, carried out with 100 Brazilian executives including board members, senior leadership and middle management, shows that 92% of those interviewed believe that the role of CAIO (Chief AI Officer) will gain even more relevance in the next decade. Another 80% indicate growth in the importance of the Chief Data Officer.

According to the survey, 91% of executives believe that positions linked to artificial intelligence and data management will have an even greater strategic role by 2035.

In addition, 63% say that the ability to reorganize and adapt the workforce will be an essential skill for leaders during this period.

Among the positions that should gain prominence in the coming years are CINO (Chief Innovation Officer), CAIDO (Chief AI & Data Officer), CTO (Chief Technology Officer), CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) and CTRO (Chief Transformation Officer).

According to Mario Custódio, director of executive recruitment at Robert Half, the transformation of companies will continue to be driven by people, even with the rapid advancement of technology.

"The advancement of the Fifth Industrial Revolution and the expected waves of digital transformation reinforces that organizations change and transform because of people. Their skills and experiences will evolve, but the application and understanding will come from human minds and collaborative action", says the executive.

The research shows that the Chief Innovation Officer must assume a central role in companies focused on accelerated growth, open innovation and cultural adaptation.

The Chief Technology Officer tends to expand his strategic role, leading digital transformation processes, technological infrastructure and cybersecurity.

The Chief Strategy Officer, in turn, must focus efforts on building value and adapting companies to more volatile business environments, combining market vision, macroeconomic analysis and conducting expansion and restructuring processes.

In the area of artificial intelligence, the Chief AI & Data Officer appears to be one of the most strategic positions for the next decade. The expectation is that these executives will lead the implementation of AI in an ethical manner and aligned with business objectives, connecting innovation, data and corporate governance.

The Chief Transformation Officer must gain space in the integration between areas such as Human Resources, Technology and Operations, driving large-scale organizational changes and ensuring internal alignment in scenarios of constant transformation.

"There is increasing pressure for companies to evolve quickly without losing execution capacity and internal alignment. Therefore, leaders who understand digital transformation, but also know how to mobilize teams in highly volatile scenarios, gain space", adds Custódio.
