The pace of the corn harvest in MT exceeds that of the last harvest, says Imea

The corn harvest in Mato Grosso reached 5.85% of the cultivated area in the State, an increase of 3.91 percentage points compared to the previous week, reported this Friday by the Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics (Imea).

The pace of the cereal harvest in the largest Brazilian producer is ahead of the same period last year (2.66%), but remains behind the historical average for the season (6.8%), according to data from the institute linked to producers.

At the beginning of the week, Imea raised the state's corn harvest projection by 1.3%, to 53.35 million tons.

Amid the beginning of the harvest, corn prices continue to fall at the beginning of June in most of Brazil's producing regions, with a reference indicator in the country marking the lowest nominal level in eight months this week, according to data from the Cepea study center.
