The Netherlands' qualification to the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup also represents a financial gain for Corinthians. With Memphis Depay joining the team led by Ronald Koeman, the black and white club will be entitled to a new installment of FIFA's financial compensation program for teams that provide athletes for the tournament.

The Dutch place was confirmed after the 3-1 victory over Tunisia, a result that guaranteed the team's continuity in the competition. With this, the team will play one more match in the World Cup, against Morocco, and Corinthians will receive approximately 20 thousand dollars (around R$ 103 thousand at current prices).

The payment is part of the Clube Benefits Programme, a FIFA initiative that remunerates clubs for each day that their players remain at the service of the national teams during the World Cup. The daily value established by the entity is 5 thousand dollars per athlete called up.

So far, Memphis is the only representative of the Corinthians squad in the tournament. Adding up the days already played in the group stage and the classification for the round of 16, Corinthians accumulates around 80 thousand dollars in financial compensation, an amount that is around R$ 415 thousand.

The amount could still increase in the coming weeks. If the Netherlands advances to the World Cup final, scheduled for July 19th, the São Paulo club will be able to receive approximately 180 thousand dollars, a value close to R$ 934 thousand.

In addition to participating in the competition, Corinthians must also be paid for the period in which Memphis remained focused with the Dutch team during the preparation for the World Cup. The striker reported to training at the end of May and, considering this interval, the club can add around 75 thousand dollars to the amounts received, totaling an even greater financial return for calling up number 10.

On the field, Memphis has been used by Ronald Koeman as an option during matches. The striker started all three group stage matches on the bench, came on during the second half in all of them and played 51 minutes, in addition to an assist recorded in the 5 x 1 rout of Sweden.

Participation in the World Cup also places the Dutchman in a select group of black and white history. Memphis became the 25th Corinthians player to play in an edition of the World Cup, alongside notable names such as Cássio, Fagner, Freddy Rincón, Carlos Tévez, Ricardinho, Rivellino and Sócrates.

While following the Netherlands' campaign, Corinthians also continues working to keep the striker in the squad. Memphis' current contract is valid until July 31, and the board has already presented a renewal proposal, maintaining positive expectations for an agreement between the parties.
