"The most expensive World Cup": fans in New York suffer from high costs

On this sunny Saturday afternoon (13), fans began leaving New York towards New Jersey to watch the match between Brazil and Morocco for the 2026 World Cup.

Concerns about commuting costs have gained prominence in the New York region amid rising transportation prices. Hundreds of fans took buses to get to the stadium in New Jersey.

"It's, by far, the most expensive World Cup I've ever been to. I went to the one in Brazil, the one in Russia and this one. The prices here are about five times higher," said Brazilian fan Pedro Golda.

The match marks the beginning of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti's career in World Cups at the helm of the Brazilian team. The coach seeks to lead Brazil to the long-awaited sixth world title, a mission he classified as a privilege and also a responsibility.

On the other hand, Morocco is trying to consolidate the status achieved in Qatar in 2022. The African team was the first on the continent to reach a World Cup semi-final, after eliminating Spain and Portugal during the historic campaign.
