Actor Paul Anthony Kelly, 37, was announced in the cast of "The Maid 2", a sequel that will bring Sydney Sweeney, 28, back to the leading role, as well as Kirsten Dunst, 44, among the new names in the production.

The announcement was made on social media via the film's official page. In the video, Paul Anthony Kelly appears reading the book by Freida McFadden, a work that is adapted into the feature film (see below).

Kelly will play Douglas Garrick. In the plot of the books, he is the husband of the mysterious Wendy and the new boss of the protagonist Millie (Sweeney). . He is a rich and seductive man who keeps his wife locked in a room incommunicado, raising suspicions about what really happens

The film is based on the book "The Maid", by author Freida McFadden, and is a popular phenomenon on BookTok, the TikTok reader community.

The story follows Millie, who gets a job as a maid in the luxurious Winchester mansion, formed by Nina (Amanda Seyfried), Andrew (Brandon Sklenar) and the couple's young daughter.

However, as the plot of the psychological thriller unfolds, it is discovered that Nina's "instability" is actually a reflection of a dangerous web of dark secrets, lies and manipulation within the marriage.

The plot explores themes such as power, control and trust, keeping the audience in suspense with constant twists and turns. Little by little, we realize that both Millie and the family she works for hide dark truths, and the big mystery becomes finding out if she will be able to leave that house or if the Winchesters' secrets are even more dangerous than her own.

"The Maid 2" opens on December 17, 2027 in the United States. There is no confirmed date in Brazil yet.
