'The Good Life' Star Penelope Keith Dies at 86: Farewell to a British Comedy Legend

Dame Penelope Keith, iconic British actress known for *The Good Life* (as the snobbish Margo Leadbetter) and *To The Manor Born*, passed away aged 86 on 29 June 2026. She had been battling cancer and died peacefully at her home in Surrey, where she had lived for more than 50 years. Keith shone on TV in the 1970s, won a Bafta and had a long career in theater with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His last work was the series *Saving Country Houses*. A huge loss for British comedy.
