Cary Grant, one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs, worked with many female legends, but not all of them were easy. One of those he couldn't stand was Joan Fontaine, his partner in Alfred Hitchcock's *Suspicion* (1941). Grant described her behavior as "bitchy" and said it was understandable that the husband in the film would want to kill her. The tension between them was palpable on set, possibly due to Hitchcock's favoritism. Despite the complicated chemistry, the film is a thriller classic.
