On Thursday night (28), the American State Department announced that it will classify the criminal factions Primeiro Comando da Capital and Comando Vermelho as terrorist organizations. The announcement was made in the same week that Flávio Bolsonaro met with Donald Trump and the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. At Palácio do Planalto and among institutions that combat organized crime, the tone is one of apprehension regarding the practical effects of the measure.
In this episode, Natuza Nery interviews prosecutor Lincoln Gakiya, one of the biggest references in the fight against criminal factions in Brazil. Gakiya sees Washington's decision as "very serious" and explains why it could interfere with investigations against organized crime.
