The 2026 World Cup officially starts this Thursday (11) bringing several new features. Between new rules, a different format and a larger number of teams, this World Cup goes down in history as the first to be held in three host countries - the United States, Mexico and Canada - and with three opening ceremonies.

Before the official ceremonies, however, FIFA promoted yesterday (10) a huge countdown show with simultaneous events in all three countries.
Ceremony in Mexico
The first ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 pm (Brasília time), an hour and a half before the opening match of the World Cup between the Mexican team and South Africa. The event will be held at the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City.
Among the confirmed attractions are Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla. In addition to them, Shakira and Burna Boy will perform the official song of the tournament.
TV Globo and ge will broadcast the Mexican opening ceremony starting at 2:20 pm.

Ceremony in Canada
The day after the opening match of the 2026 World Cup, it will be the instead of Canada. The ceremony will take place at BMO Field, in Toronto, an hour and a half before the game between the Canadian team and Bosnia and Herzegovina, scheduled for 4 pm (Brasília time).
Among the attractions will be Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and William Prince.

Ceremony in the USA
As with other events, the ceremony is scheduled to start an hour and a half before the debut of the United States team against Paraguay, scheduled for 10pm (Brasília time). The event will be held at SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles.
Presentations on American soil will be by Katy Perry, Future, Lisa, Rema, Tyla and the Brazilian Anitta.

When will the Brazil games be?

Brazil x Morocco - 1st round: June 13 (Saturday), at 7pm Brasília (6pm local time), at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey-New York/United States.
Brazil x Haiti - 2nd round: June 19th (Friday), at 9:30pm Brasília (8:30pm local time), at Lincoln Financial Field Stadium, Philadelphia/United States.
Scotland x Brazil - 3rd round: June 24 (Wednesday), at 7pm Brasília (6pm local time), at the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami/United States.
If they finish the group stage at the top of the group, Brazil will face the second place in Group F in the round of 16, formed by the Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia and Sweden. Furthermore, the first position guarantees that the Brazilian team will remain in the United States throughout the World Cup.
