Influencer Thais Carla, 34, responded to criticism she received after her weight loss process. In an interview with gshow, she commented on her actions against fatphobia and the new phase she is experiencing.

When asked about having suffered some kind of judgment for losing weight after defending the body positive movement, Thais responds: "I think people never understood what I was saying and what I am. I always talked about fatphobia, which is structural fatphobia, because before fat people are fat, they are human."

Next, the influencer argues that obese people should have the same rights as other people, being able to access public places such as banks and gyms. "So, it's not like: 'go there and lose weight'. He has to have access to a bank; when going to the hospital, have access to a good clinic; have access, when working out, to a good gym, be able to go through the turnstile. These are the things I've always talked about", he adds.

Thais Carla also spoke about the judgment that obese people have when accessing a gym. "I wanted to encourage these fat people not to stop existing and living. Because then they could seek their treatment, what you want for yourself and thus help women. Because it was about self-esteem, it was about seeing yourself", he adds.

In April 2025, the influencer publicly explained that the decision to undergo bariatric surgery was linked to a new personal cycle, the result of reflection, professional monitoring and maturity. Mother of Maria Clara, aged 9, and Eva Rocha, aged 6, she highlighted that the decision came from a place of autonomy, unrelated to external pressure.

Since then, Thais Carla has lost around 100 kg. In an interview with CNN Brasil, the influencer stated that the weight loss process is more linked to care than to changing identity. "It's not about becoming someone else. It's about listening to myself more, respecting my limits and understanding that care is not abandoning who I've always been", he says.
