Temer brings together experts and publishes letter for 2026 candidates
Former president Michel Temer produced, together with a group of experts in the most diverse areas, a document with proposals, plans and suggestions for pre-candidates for the Presidency of the Republic. Named "Road to the Future", the more than one hundred page report was released this Friday (19).
The document, which functions as a platform of proposals, has already been sent to all those who have put themselves forward as pre-candidates for the Presidency of the Republic for this year's election.
The intention of "Estrada para o Futuro", according to Temer himself, is that "there is not a dispute of name against name, but of project against project" in the electoral race.
"This is a suggestion to those who wish to govern Brazil. It is a collaboration that I wish to give as a result of more than thirty-two years of public life", begins the former president in the document.
In the first pages, the former president says it is no longer possible for electoral campaigns to be based on verbal and "even physical" aggression and argued that polarization is "fundamental" in a democratic regime, but not the "radicalization of positions".
In addition, he proposes that the elected president bring together the Three Powers, civil society and the opposition in the first ten days of government to sign a "Republican Pact" focused on the pacification of the country and economic development.
As general guidelines he highlights the defense of constitutional harmony, gradual reforms (such as the reduction of the working day from 44 to 40 hours), budget ceiling to guarantee fiscal rigidity and the depoliticization of the environmental debate.

In the scope of public security, he suggests the re-creation of the Ministry of Public Security to coordinate the SUSP (Single Public Security System) and integration of national forces.
Other proposals in the document are the founding of a National Agency to Combat Organized Crime, focusing on financial strangulation and combating money laundering; and also the replacement of the National Force by a permanent and structured National Guard that absorbs the PRF (Federal Highway Police).
In the field of agriculture and agribusiness, the former president considers that Brazil "should not choose between producing and preserving. It must lead the world precisely by being able to do both things at the same time."
The document is signed by names such as sociologist José Pastore, lawyer and former deputy Gabriel Chalita, former ministers Nelson Jobim, Blairo Maggi and Moreira Franco, as well as many other experts.
