The new free Brazilian streaming platform "Tela Brasil" will be launched this Saturday (30) for viewers around the country. Coordinated by the Ministry of Culture, the website will bring together more than 400 national cinema titles.

When it was announced by the government, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) described the action as "our Brazilian Netflix". With the aim of strengthening the national film market and democratizing access to national productions, the portal will be open to the public and will be free of charge.

How to access Tela Brasil?
Access to the streaming website will be done exclusively through viewers' gov.br account on the official website - which will become available after the premiere event in Rio de Janeiro. The initiative will also gain an application, accessible for Androids, on the Google Play Store, and for iPhones, on the App Store.

Tela Brasil is supported to run smoothly on cell phones, tablets and notebooks. Furthermore, the app is compatible with smart TVs, Chromecast and Apple TV.

According to the organizers, the focus of the catalog will be to disseminate independent works and disseminate Brazilian audiovisual production. To date, the streaming platform has 447 options, and, over time, more features, short films and documentaries will be added to the selection.
