A 17-year-old teenager died in northern France after falling from a truck while celebrating the country's team's victory over Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, firefighters said this Friday.
The young woman was in the back of a truck in the town of Aulnoye-Aymeries when she fell and was run over by the vehicle, according to firefighters. The teenager died at the scene.
France, one of the big favorites for the World Cup, defeated Morocco 2-0 on Thursday in Boston, with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé.
The French team advanced to the third consecutive World Cup semifinal and will face in Dallas, next Tuesday, the winner of the duel between Spain and Belgium, which will be played this Friday in Los Angeles.
