TCP increases movement and reaches 690 thousand containers in five months

The Paranaguá Container Terminal increased container movement in the first five months of this year, reaching 690 thousand TEUs (20-foot containers), according to TCP, the terminal's management company.

The number represented an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2025.

According to the company, the result was driven by the increase in the flow of loading and unloading of full loads, which increased by 7%, from 4.5 million tons in 2025 to 4.8 million tons in 2026.

Considering only cargo volume, without counting the weight of containers, exports were 3.5 million tons, an increase of 8%, while imports reached 1.3 million, 6% higher than the previous year.

Meat leads shipments
Main product exported by the terminal, the meat and frozen segment was the highlight, with 1.7 million tons shipped, a volume 13% above the 1.5 million tons in 2025.

"The resumption of chicken meat shipments after the lifting of restrictions imposed on Brazil in 2025 caused exports to soar. Pork exports also increased, and the Terminal has demonstrated capacity and efficiency to meet market demand", commented Fabio Mattos, commercial manager at TCP.

The terminal has the largest refrigerated container storage area in the country, with 5,280 outlets, and according to the company, capacity should be expanded later this year.

In total, the refrigerated container operation handled 64,470 units, 9% above the 59,054 units in the previous year

Roads and railways
On the railway, which connects the branches in Cascavel, Cambé and Ortigueira to the operations yard within the terminal's bonded area, 545 trains were recorded and the movement of 972 thousand tons of cargo was recorded during the period.

The road sector registered the highest number of movements for the period, with 267 thousand units, 6% more than in 2025.

Commercial and industrial segment
In the commercial wood segment, which supplies the furniture, packaging and civil construction industries, performance was stable, with 598 thousand tons exported throughout 2026.

Following this, the paper and cellulose sector grew 9%, reaching the mark of 446 thousand tons shipped.

In terms of imports, the automotive sector landed 236 thousand tons, including parts, inputs for industry, among others.

The result was 3% higher than the previous year.

Chemicals came in second place, with the import of 214 thousand tons of products, with emphasis on inputs for the fertilizer and agricultural pesticides industry.
