Taylor Swift sings classic from "Toy Story" at new film premiere

Singer Taylor Swift, 36, surprised by appearing at the premiere of "Toy Story 5" in Los Angeles, United States, and singing two songs from the film: "I Knew It, I Knew You" - the one she wrote for the new work - and the classic "You've Gotta A Friend in Me".

During the event, Taylor Swift revealed that the new film, which she has already seen, is already her favorite in the franchise. She also reflected, without spoilers, on the trajectory of the character Jessie in the new story, who inspired her in the composition of "I Knew It, I Knew You".

"I think the thing about Jessie's story in 'Toy Story 5' is that we've followed her since the second movie, and we've loved her ever since. We've seen her go through so much suffering, so many victories and losses. We know her origin story, but in Toy Story 5 we see such great character development and lessons that I could really relate to, as she matured, learned more about her experiences and her memories," he reflected.

After performing the new track with a piano, Taylor Swift called Randy Newman to the stage, with whom she sang "You've Gotta A Friend in Me".

The original version, "You've Gotta a Friend in Me", was released in 1995 with the voice of Randy Newman, at the time for the soundtrack of the franchise's debut title. In the same year, Zé da Viola reinterpreted the song in Portuguese titled "Amigo Isso Aqui", and also recorded two more songs for the franchise: "Coisas Estranhas" and "Voar Eu Não Vou Nunca Mais".

The sequel "Toy Story 5" returns with the story of Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the other toys facing a new challenge: children's addiction to electronic devices.
