Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married: find out the details of the secret ceremony
Singer Taylor Swift and tight end Travis Kelce walked down the aisle last Friday (3), after much speculation surrounding a secret wedding in the heart of New York. They chose Madison Square Garden to receive their approximately 1,000 guests, which included a series of celebrities.
A representative for the pop star confirmed to CNN that the exchange of rings took place this Friday and that the ceremony was performed by the couple's friend, comedian Adam Sandler. Upon becoming officially married, Madison Square Garden's external screens displayed a message on a lilac background: "Just+t Married", something like "Taylor and Travis just got married".
The statement added that the bride and groom chose not to have the traditional group of bridesmaids and groomsmen and chose only one "Man of Honor" and "Best Man", something like 'best man of honor', for the celebration. On Taylor's side, her brother Austin Swift was chosen for the position, while for Travis it was his brother Jason Kelce, with whom he co-hosts the "New Heights" podcast.
For the celebration, the bride and groom chose pieces from Christian Dior Haute Couture, designed exclusively for the couple by Jonathan Anderson. According to the note, this is the first time that the brand's new creative director has created a haute couture piece for a celebrity. Taylor's shoes were custom-made by Christian Louboutin and she wore Cartier jewelry.
Dior issued a statement confirming that it was behind the look worn by the bride and groom and stated that the pieces were made in the atelier in Paris, France. "Jonathan Anderson and the house of Dior extend their congratulations to the newlyweds," read the report sent to Entertainment Tonight. Despite the confirmations, there are no official photos of the bride and groom at the time of publication.
In commemoration of the occasion, the Empire State Building changed its colors to blue, as per the English tradition that the bride should have "something blue" with her.
Throughout the day, celebrities were spotted around New York heading to Madison Square Garden, and guests included Travis' Kansas City Chiefs teammates Ed Sheeran and wife Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, Cherry Seaborn, Zoë Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Jason Sudekis, Camila Cabello, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. According to the New York Times, the night would feature a performance by Steve Nicks, who did the sound check in the morning at the arena.
On Thursday, a rehearsal dinner was also held at Madison Square Garden and was attended by 100 guests. Among them was Selena Gomez, who had the look, an Oscar de La Renta dress, confirmed by her makeup artist, Soo Park, to Entertainment Tonight. At the rehearsal, a navy blue box was given as a souvenir to the guests, displaying the bride and groom's official logo, "TT" - the couple's initials - joined by hearts.
