Sydney Film Festival: find out what to expect from the event

The Sydney Film Festival begins this Wednesday (3) in the Australian city and promises to present new titles from international cinema until June 14th.

In this edition, the event brings together 13 productions selected for the competitive exhibition.

Among the highlights competing for the event's main prize are the following films:

- "Ben'Imana", by Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo;
- "Dao", by Alain Gomis;
- "The Dream Adventure", by Valeska Grisebach;
- "Homeland", by Paweł Pawlikowski;
- "Fjord", by Cristian Mungiu;
- "Gentle Monster", by Marie Kreutzer;
- "The invitation", by Olivia Wilde;
- "Leviticus", by Adrian Chiarella;
- "Minotaur", by André Zvyagintsev;
- "Worthless Man", by Shahrbanoo Sadat;
- "Parallel Stories", by Asghar Farhadi;
- "Shame and Money", by Visar Morina;
- "Sheep in the Box", by Kore-eda Hirokazu;

In addition, the event features several filmmakers present and also the screening of works such as "De Repente", by Ryusuke Hamaguchi; "Boy from Congo", by Rafiki Fariala; and "Paper Tiger" by James Gray.

The Sydney Film Festival also has Kleber Mendonça Filho as president of the awards jury. The director of "The Secret Agent" returns to the Festival after having shown productions such as "Aquarius", "Bacurau", and "Retratos phantoms" in previous editions of the event.

He will share the jury with Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi, Singaporean director Boo Junfeng, Australian cinematographer Ari Wegner and Australian director Sally Riley.
