Suspect of killing neighbor after fight over water shutoff is arrested in SP

The 65-year-old man who had been on the run since April after killing his neighbor Sabrina da Silva, 42, during a fight over water cuts in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday (13) in a house in the municipality of Peruíbe.

According to the SSP-SP (Public Security Secretariat of the State of São Paulo), the police found a suitcase assembled by the man at the scene, which was intended to leave the state.

In addition to the temporary arrest warrant issued by the 1st Criminal Court of Guarujá, three cell phones and R$3,400 in cash were seized.

The case was registered as the capture of a wanted person by the Guarujá Police Station.

Remember the case
The disagreement would have started between the suspect and Sabrina's husband because of the closure of the hose that supplied water to the victim's house on April 27th. According to the report of a witness, a neighbor of those involved, she told the woman to leave the place while the men talked.

However, the woman reportedly returned alone with a hose and handed it to her husband so he could fix it.

In addition, the witness said that the suspect had closed the supply to ensure supply only to the residence of one of his tenants. The witness even saw Sabrina approaching the men, but soon lost sight of her.

Minutes later, he heard the victim shout "for the love of God, don't do that!", before the man fired three shots. The suspect and the victim's husband fled the scene after the gunshots.

Sabrina was found by the Military Police lying on the ground, unconscious and with a large amount of blood around her. She was taken to Santo Amaro Hospital, but did not survive and died.

At the time, the case was registered as attempted murder in the 1st DP of Guarujá.
