Suspect for shooting during 2022 electoral campaign is arrested in Bolivia

FICCO/SP (Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime in São Paulo) located and enabled, this Friday (19), the arrest of a man suspected of involvement in the shooting that took place in Paraisópolis, in the south zone of the capital, during an agenda of the then candidate for governor, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), the 2022 electoral campaign.

According to the corporation, the man, considered a fugitive by Brazilian justice, was captured in Santa Cruz de La Sierra, Bolivia, following intelligence and international cooperation actions conducted by the police team.

The intelligence work made it possible to identify the whereabouts of the person being investigated and supported the measures that resulted in the arrest by Bolivian security forces.

The shooting took place on October 17, 2022, during Tarcísio's campaign schedule in Paraisópolis, where the then candidate would participate in the inauguration of the community's First University Center, known as Casa Belezinha.

At the time, Tarcísio stated on social media that his entourage had been the target of a criminal attack. "We are all fine. During a visit to the 1st University Center of Paraisópolis, we were attacked by criminals", he wrote.

At the time, the investigations were carried out by the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Personal Protection). The then executive secretary of Public Security, João Camilo Pires de Campos, declared that there was a "noise" related to the police presence in the region and that the shots occurred between 50 and 100 meters away from the place where the candidate's team was.

During the exchange of gunfire, a suspect identified as Felipe Silva de Lima, who had a history of robbery, was killed. No police officer or member of Tarcísio's entourage was injured.
