Striker loaned by Corinthians to the Rio club goes through a long goal drought

The reformulation promoted by Corinthians Feminino at the beginning of the season involved several changes to the squad, including loans of athletes who were looking for more space on the field. Among them is striker Ellen Cristine, loaned to Botafogo until the end of 2026 to gain more acting opportunities.

Despite the unprecedented sequence of games at the Rio club, the striker has still not managed to end a long period without scoring. So far, Ellen has participated in six matches for Botafogo, but continues without finding the net, extending the interval since her last goal as a professional to more than nine months.

The last time the player celebrated a goal was wearing the Corinthians shirt. On that occasion, she participated in the 3-2 victory over Red Bull Bragantino, in a match valid for the first phase of the Campeonato Paulista Feminino, played on September 4, 2025, at the Estádio Municipal de Bragança Paulista.

Since then, the attacker has entered the field seven more times without scoring again. There were one appearance for Corinthians and another six for Botafogo. According to data from Sofascore, the streak now totals 277 minutes played without goals.

Although she has not yet returned to the networks, Ellen is experiencing her season with the greatest number of matches in professional football in 2026. Before his current spell at the Rio club, his best record had been recorded in 2022, when he played five games for the Brabas main squad.

Created from the black and white youth teams, the striker entered the club's history by becoming the first internally trained athlete to debut for Corinthians' professional women's team. His path, however, has been marked by physical obstacles in recent years.

A series of knee problems ended up limiting the player's career, as she had to undergo at least five surgical procedures since her rise to professional football.

Since arriving at Parque São Jorge in 2020, Ellen has played 12 games for the Corinthians main team, all starting on the bench, in addition to scoring three goals. In the club's youth categories, she also registered three goals in 20 games played.

The striker's contract with Corinthians remains in force until December 2026.

While Ellen seeks to regain her leading role at Botafogo, the Corinthians squad remains in preparation during the calendar break caused by FIFA Data. The team led by Emily Lima should only play an official match again in the second half of July.

The forecast is that Brabas will return to the pitch on July 17th, when they host Ferroviária in the fourth round of the Campeonato Paulista Feminino. Before that, however, the club scheduled two friendlies without an audience in front of the United States under-23 team.

The first meeting between the teams took place at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. The second is scheduled for June 9th, at the Marcelo Portugal Gouvêa Stadium, in Cotia, a place that is part of the training center for São Paulo's youth teams.
