SP: Campos do Jordão dawns with frost and records a temperature of 3.1°C

The municipality of Campos do Jordão, in Serra da Mantiqueira (SP), dawned under frost and recorded a minimum temperature of 3.1°C this Wednesday (17), according to data from Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology).

In one of the records, it is possible to see a layer of ice covering the entire window of a car during this morning's frost.

The phenomenon of frost occurs when thin layers of ice form on surfaces and vegetation after a sharp drop in temperatures.

Also according to Inmet, thermometers should vary between 6°C and 16°C throughout this Wednesday in Campos do Jordão, with increased cloudiness during the afternoon.

The special meteorological bulletin from the Civil Defense CGE (Emergency Management Center) indicates that the action of a mass of cold air should keep temperatures low throughout the state of São Paulo in the coming days.

New cold front
The arrival of a new cold front, which sets in from this Thursday (18), should further reduce temperatures in some regions of Brazil, mainly in the Center-South.

The system promises to arrive first in Rio Grande do Sul and then spread to states such as Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The cold should be felt even more strongly with the entry of a mass of polar air between Saturday (20) and Sunday (21).

The new phenomenon could bring widespread frost to the southern states. In São Paulo, the system should cause rain, gusts of wind and thermometers with lower indicators.
