South Korea's goal scorer "imitates" Ronaldo Fenômeno's celebration

South Korea's victory over Czechia this Thursday (11), in the first round of the 2026 World Cup, featured a scene that recalled one of the striking images in the history of the World Cup and the Brazilian team.

Scorer of Korea's equalizer, Hwang In-beom celebrated in a similar way to the celebration immortalized by Ronaldo Fenômeno during the 2002 World Cup, in a decision against Germany.

After scoring, the attacker left waving the index finger of his right hand in the air, the same gesture made by the Brazilian when winning the fifth championship.

Ronaldo was one of the main highlights of that World Cup, held in South Korea and Japan. Top scorer in the competition with eight goals, the Brazilian scored twice in the 2-0 victory over Germany in the final and helped the Brazilian team win its fifth world title.

South Korea beat Czechia 2-1, in the early hours of Friday (11) in Guadalajara, in the first round of Group A of the World Cup. In a busy second half, Krejcí opened the scoring for the Europeans, but Hwang In-beom and Hyeon-gyu Oh turned it around for the Asian team.

With the result, South Korea got three points and tied with Mexico, who defeated South Africa. The Mexican team, however, has the better on goal difference, as they beat the Africans 2-0. Without points, Czechia and South Africa share the bottom of the group.

The two teams return to the field next Thursday (18). South Korea faces Mexico again in Guadalajara, at 10pm (Brasília time). Czechia faces South Africa in Atlanta. at 1 pm (Brasília time).
