Slice of William and Kate's 15th birthday wedding cake to be auctioned

A slice of Kate Middleton and Prince Charles's wedding cake, held in 2011, was put up for auction this week for around R$10,000. Being part of the wedding, the candy is about 15 years old.

Forum Auctions, the online auction house selling the brandy-infused fruitcake, describes the piece as: "preserved slice of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding cake, cake wrapped in paper inside protective cardboard border (slightly torn at corners) and with printed card from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, housed in a specially commissioned cream and gold illustrated tin."

The initial bid to purchase the cake is 700 pounds (R$4.7 thousand at the current price), and it is estimated that it will be sold for between one thousand and one thousand and five hundred pounds (R$6.7 thousand - R$10.1 thousand).

The cake lot is being auctioned, accompanied by the invitation to the royal wedding and information leaflet for the ceremony, a letter and two cards handwritten by the Princess of Wales. Both the treat and the messages belong to and were addressed to Julia Kavanagh, Middleton's friend.

In one of the cards, Kate writes on behalf of her eldest son George for the gift he received on his birthday in 2017. The message reads: "Thank you so much for my amazing birthday present. I loved the huge T-Rex and leave it outside my room to stand guard... Love, George."

The auction is scheduled to take place on May 28th, at 1pm London time (9am Brasília time).
