Sispence None the Richer bassist Justin Cary dies aged 50
Sixpence None the Richer bassist Justin Cary died on Thursday (18). The information was confirmed by the band's singer, Leigh Nash, in a post on social media.
The musician had suffered a stroke days before his death and an online fundraising campaign was created to raise funds for his treatment and for his wife, Linda. Justin's wife was even remembered by Leigh Nash in the farewell message left by the vocalist.
"'We had so much fun' doesn't begin to describe how we feel. Thank you, Justin. We will love you forever. Please keep your dear Linda in your hearts. She is part of our family. There has never been anyone like Justin," the singer wrote.
Justin Cary was hospitalized at Albany Medical Center, in the state of New York, in the United States.
Sixpence None the Richer was a band formed in 1992 that became notable for the success of "Kiss Me", the soundtrack to classics such as "How to Lose a Man in 10 Days" and "Ela É Demais". The song was released in 1997, the year in which Justin Cary joined the band to replace JJ Plasencio as bassist.
The success made "Kiss Me" reach second place on the Billboard Hot 100, the main hit parade in the United States, and be nominated for a Grammy Awards in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
