Sinop: motorcycle driver dies after collision with car on BR-163
A woman, whose identity has not yet been confirmed by authorities, died this Friday morning after an accident involving a Yamaha Factor scooter and a Hyundai HB20 car in the urban perimeter of BR-163, in Sinop. The collision occurred at km 829 of the highway, close to Estrada Monalisa.
According to preliminary information provided by the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the dynamics of the accident are still being investigated. However, the initial version indicates that the motorcyclist was traveling along the highway towards Sorriso and had tried to make a U-turn to head towards Sinop when the collision with the car occurred.
According to agent Eliaquim, from the PRF, the HB20 driver's report indicates that he was traveling along BR-163 in the downward direction when the motorcycle began an apparently irregular U-turn maneuver.
"From what has been found so far, and also according to the report from the driver of the car, he was traveling along BR and the motorcycle had attempted to make a U-turn, apparently in an irregular manner. This ended up causing a side collision and the consequent dragging of the vehicles. The motorcyclist fell and, unfortunately, died at the scene", explained the police officer.
Still according to the PRF, the driver of the HB20 was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which showed a negative result for alcohol consumption.
The accident area was isolated for the work of the Official Expertise and Technical Identification (Politec), responsible for carrying out surveys that will help determine the causes and circumstances of the collision.
After completion of the examination, the victim's body will be sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for identification procedures. The investigations remain ongoing.
