Sinner advances at Wimbledon, but admits: "I can play a little better"

Jannik Sinner, number one in the world, beat the Portuguese Nuno Borges, 48th in the ranking, this Wednesday (1), by a score of 3 sets to 0, with partials of 7/6(4), 7/6(2) and 6/4. With the result, he advances to the third round of Wimbledon.

In an interview after the match, the Italian said he was satisfied with the way he acted during the difficult moments, especially after the suffocating debut, when he overcame Serbian Miomir Keckmanovic in a comeback.

"Having a difficult start and then getting the victory was good, it was important. Today, I managed the first two sets very well in difficult moments. I know I can, or at least I hope, play a little better at times. I hope that changes game by game, then we'll see," he said.

Sinner added that he tried to adopt a more aggressive stance against Borges, but recognized that there was still room to improve his strategy.

"In general, I tried to be a little more aggressive. Sometimes it worked well, other times I feel like I can improve a little. In the second match on grass, I wasn't looking for perfection. I tried to improve. And I felt that, in some moments, I achieved it. Now let's see how it goes", he declared.

In the next round of the English tournament, Sinner will face the North American Jenson Brooksby, 81st in the ATP rankings.
