'Sign of strength and courage': Trump reacts to the rescheduled dinner that ended in gunshots; president will speak

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, commented on the rescheduling of the dinner with correspondents accredited at the White House for July 24. The event received a new date after it was interrupted by gunfire on April 25, when an armed man tried to invade the place.

"In a sign of strength and courage, it has just been announced that the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which ended violently and abruptly on April 25th, will be rescheduled for July 24th," Trump said on a social network this Tuesday (2).
The White House also announced the new date this Tuesday (2). The Republican also stated that he was invited to speak.
"This announcement is very good, because we cannot allow lunatics to change our way of life, or even our programming. I was invited by Weijia Jiang, president of the White House Correspondents' Association, and I accepted the invitation to speak. I don't know if I will make the same unpleasant statements, at least when it comes to certain people, but we will find out soon enough," he said.
Trump was at the event, which is the most traditional meeting between the US president and journalists and would be the first of the Republican's current administration, when sounds of gunshots were heard from the hall. Cameramen recording the event captured the sound of gunshots.

Security agents then quickly entered the venue and removed Trump, the first lady, Melania Trump, and the vice president, JD Vance, who were at a table on a stage in the hall. Other high-ranking officials, such as the Secretaries of State and War and the director of the FBI, were also removed.
The journalists were kept on site for security checks.
The shooter even shot at one of the agents, but the shot hit the officer's bulletproof vest, who is fine, according to the Secret Service. No one else was injured.
The suspect was identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, a United States citizen born in the city of Torrance, California. Allen, according to authorities, is a mechanical engineer, game developer and former private teacher.

TV Globo reporter Raquel Krahenbuhl reported the tense moments she experienced during the shooting attack outside the dinner.
Raquel reported a weak security system at the event, in which there was no search and the agents present only checked the ticket. Journalists from other countries also reported having witnessed the same level of security.
According to the TV Globo correspondent, the people present were starting to eat dinner and several US government officials were on stage when the shots started. That's when everyone went under the tables and heavily armed Secret Service agents entered the room.
"We were all already seated, dinner was starting and people were starting to eat. President Trump's statements would come later, but everyone was already sitting on the stage. We were still at the salad bar when we heard a noise. At the time, I thought it had been an accident, that a table had fallen. But, at that moment, everyone started to get under the tables, to protect themselves, and that's when the We thought there had been a shootout," said Raquel.
"Immediately armed men from the Secret Service came in and went straight to the leaders. An agent stood right behind me, protecting the head of the FBI, Kash Patel, who was under the table. And then they [agents] could continue with the security protocol. security", added the correspondent.
