Shots are heard in Times Square, New York; Police ask people to avoid the area

Shots were heard this Thursday (18) in Times Square, in New York, in the United States.

Videos circulating on social media show the moment when several shots were heard in the region, and pedestrians present at the scene began to run. Several people reported the incident on the Citizen app.
The New York police said there was "police activity" a block from Times Square, but did not mention any shots being fired.
"Police activity: Expect traffic delays, street closures, public transportation disruptions and the presence of emergency responders in the vicinity of West 45th Avenue and 8th Avenue in Manhattan. Avoid the area," the police said in their alert system.
