Videos circulating on social media show the moment when several gunshots were heard in the region, and pedestrians present at the scene began to run. Several people reported the incident on the Citizen app.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) stated that it responded to reports of a shooting around 4:30 pm (Brasília time) at the intersection of West 44th Avenue and 7th Avenue and that, upon arrival, officers observed a person firing shots. Officers arrested the man and seized a firearm.

Officers appeared inspecting bullet holes in a car in a video released by the news agency Reuters. There were no reports of injuries, according to police. The NYPD said it was investigating the case.
