Shooting attack in Texas leaves dead and injured; police and shooter clash

A shooting attack in Midland, United States, this Friday (12) left one person dead and nine others hospitalized, said Mayor Lori Blong.

Until the last update of this report, the police were still acting to contain the suspect, according to an update given by Blong.
"Officers are containing the situation," she said.
According to the police, the shooting attack began around 10 am Brasília time and the confrontation with the police had already lasted more than two hours. The incident reportedly started in a part of the city and dragged on to the vicinity of a veterinary hospital.
Andrea Mendias, who works in a body shop near the veterinary hospital, told the Associated Press news agency that he heard around 40 shots. He said he saw police officers getting out of the back of an armored police vehicle, and that the agents had robots to assist them in the action.
Midland Memorial Hospital reported that four people were in surgery and five others were in stable condition.
Midland is a small city in West Texas that is about 450 km from the capital Austin.
