Ships are hit by missiles in the Strait of Hormuz

Two commercial ships and a tanker were hit this Monday (6) by missiles in the region in front of the coast of Oman, in the Strait of Hormuz region, said the British maritime agency UKMTO.

The American website Axios says that Iran fired missiles towards the vessel.
"A tanker reported being hit by an unknown projectile on the port side, which caused a fire, while sailing southwards", wrote the UKMTO in a statement.
The incident caused no injuries or damage to the environment, the agency said.

In June, Iranian fire towards ships in the strait was triggered a series of US retaliations that put the initial peace agreement signed between the two countries into question.
The Strait of Hormuz, an important maritime route in the Middle East through which around 20% of the world's oil passes, was officially reopened last Wednesday (17), with the signing of the preliminary peace agreement.
