Shakira opens 2026 World Cup with concert in Mexico
Colombian singer Shakira, 49, opened the 2026 World Cup, with a performance at the Azteca Stadium, in Mexico City, this Thursday afternoon (11). The world competition begins with a match between Mexico and South Africa, at 4pm.
Shakira was the opening act along with other names in music: Burna Boy, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángels Azules, Maná and Tyla.
At the show, Shakira joined Burna Boy to sing "Dai Dai", a partnership between the two made exclusively for the World Cup.
For the first time, the World Cup will have opening ceremonies taking place in three countries: Mexico, Canada and the United States.
