Serena Williams loses in WTA Berlin doubles debut
Serena Williams' return to the court suffered another setback this Tuesday (16). The American was eliminated in the first round of the doubles bracket at the WTA 500 in Berlin, Germany.
Forming a partnership with Karolína Muchová, Serena was defeated 6/4 and 6/4 by the pair of Giuliana Olmos and Erin Routliffe. The match lasted around 1h30.
The result represents yet another obstacle for the former world number 1, who had already faced a setback last week during the Queen's Club tournament in London. At the time, her doubles partner, Canadian Victoria Mboko, had to withdraw from the competition due to an injury to her left knee.
The defeat in Berlin also affects Serena's preparation for Wimbledon. She and her sister, Venus Williams, received an invitation to compete in the doubles bracket of the British Grand Slam.
