Corinthians ended the first half of the season in a positive way, but had to face some setbacks along the way and even fought against relegation in the Brazilian Championship. The collective performance was affected by poor individual performances by some players, which left something to be desired. Given this scenario, Gazeta Esportiva separated three players who were most disappointing in the Timão shirt in the first half of 2026.

Yuri Alberto
Forward Yuri Alberto has had a disappointing season so far with the Corinthians shirt. The number 9 started the year with good spirits after scoring in the finals of the Copa do Brasil and Supercopa Rei, but suffered a sudden drop in performance and was unable to maintain the good level already demonstrated on other occasions, leaving him further away from his goalscoring instinct.

Yuri Alberto is still Timão's top scorer in 2026, with six goals scored in 29 matches, 24 of which as a starter. He also contributed four assists. However, he made one of his worst starts to the season for Corinthians and has been heavily criticized in recent months for the large number of clear opportunities missed - one of the clearest chances came in Derby, when he came face to face with Carlos Miguel, unmarked, and shot past the goalkeeper.

Much defended by the fans, Yuri Alberto still ended the first half of the season on a low note with Fiel after publicly expressing his desire to look for a new club in the mid-year transfer window. The statement, added to the missed goals, made the center forward fall into the fans' opinion. The athlete even left the game against Platense, in the Libertadores, booed.

- Assists: 4
- Finishes: 60
- Decisive passes: 23
- Big chances created: 5

André Ramalho
André Ramalho was also one of Corinthians' biggest disappointments in the first half of the year. The defender lost space among the starters at the beginning of the season, after the arrival of Gabriel Paulista, and has not been able to take advantage of the opportunities he has received since then.

Ramalho played just 15 games, 13 as a starter, and was greatly affected by individual failures in Corinthians' defeats, such as the 3-1 defeat against Botafogo, in the Brasileirão. He didn't show good positioning, he made mistakes and was hasty in some defensive actions. In short, he had a much lower first semester compared to what he had previously presented.

- Goals: 1
- Tackles: 9
- Interceptions: 21

Memphis Depay
Memphis Depay, finally, also left something to be desired in the first half of the year. The Dutchman was greatly hampered by injuries over these six months and played little for Corinthians, with physical issues in his knee and also in his right thigh. However, when he was on the field, he did not respond and failed to show the same decision-making power.

In 2026, Memphis played just 14 games for Timão, with one goal and one assist. There are very few participations in goals in relation to fans' expectations for the number 10's year, which was decisive in the Copa do Brasil title campaign last season.

With the bad numbers and constant injuries, some Corinthians fans began to question whether a contract renewal would be worth it. The Dutchman's contract with the black and white club ends on July 31st. The board is seeking a contractual extension, with a reduction in financial terms, but still faces some barriers, such as the fear of sponsors in paying for the renewal.
