New images show the moment in which a Brazilian tourist tries to return to the walkway of the Iguaçu National Park after jumping near the waterfalls of the Iguaçu Falls, in Paraná, to rescue a cell phone. The case occurred on Saturday morning (6) and was recorded by visitors who were at the site.

In the images, the man appears trying to return to the walkway after accessing an area near the waterfall. To be able to return, he hangs on the structure and holds out his hands for other tourists to help him.

Despite the attempt, the man only returned after the park's civil fire brigade team was called to assist with the situation.

The park team informed CNN Brasil that they instructed the visitor on safety procedures and accompanied the tourist until the end of the tour, when he was removed from the park.

According to the administration, people who visit the site receive safety guidance through signs installed along the route and from the emergency teams that work at the unit.

"It is expressly prohibited to go over, climb or sit on the guardrails, whether for taking photographs or trying to recover objects [...] In cases of loss of belongings that fall into the river or on the slopes, the fire team may be called to assess the possibility of rescue, immediately or at a later time, depending on safety conditions", says the park.
