See images of helicopter accident that left 6 dead in Rio

The crash of two helicopters in a vehicle yard in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, southwest zone of Rio de Janeiro, left at least six people dead this Sunday morning (14). Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft had collided in the air.

The accident occurred on Avenida das Américas, near the Gilka Machado BRT station, towards Santa Cruz. According to COR-Rio (Operations Center), the region is closed and the incident is supported by the Fire Department, the Military Police, CET-Rio and Comlurb.

According to the Military Fire Department, the corporation was called at 8:59 am to respond to the incident involving the crash of two aircraft.

In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the case is ongoing at the 42nd DP (Recreio dos Bandeirantes). Forensic examination was requested for the location and agents are carrying out investigations to investigate the facts.

The incident, which is still ongoing, still has the support of the Fire Department, CET (Traffic Engineering Company), Comlurb and teams from the 31st BPM (Recreio dos Bandeirantes), who work to isolate the area.
