Second suspect in shooting at São Bento Metro station is arrested in SP

One of the suspects involved in the shooting that left five injured at the entrance to the São Bento station, on the 1-Blue Metro line, in the central region of São Paulo, was arrested this Friday (12). The exchange of gunfire occurred after an attempted robbery of an off-duty police officer and a suspect had already been arrested on the day of the crime.

According to the police report, civil police received an anonymous tip reporting that one of the individuals involved in the exchange of gunfire, identified as Davi Soares de Carvalho, was hiding on Rua Alcaravias, in the São Miguel Paulista neighborhood.

Davi was identified by the facial recognition system using images from the São Bento Metro. After the complaint, the agents went to the indicated house and also to a second property, located at the back of the first. The properties border a vacant lot, which could facilitate the suspect's escape.

In the back house, the police officers were greeted by two women, one of whom was Davi's partner of eight years. During the police action, Davi tried to jump over the wall and flee the scene, but was detained by the team.

He was arrested, interviewed by authorities and subjected to a criminal examination. He was then sent to the 8th Police District, responsible for conducting the police investigation investigating the case.

Remember the case
According to the Civil Police, the incident began after an attempted robbery against a civil police officer who was off duty, who reacted to the action, initiating a confrontation with three suspects. One of the three involved was arrested red-handed, but the other two managed to escape through the station's premises.

Now, with the new arrest, only one of the suspects has not yet been located.

Among the injured is a 30-year-old man, who was shot in the abdomen and left thigh, in addition to suffering fractures to his left arm, and was taken to the Santa Casa emergency room.

A child, the man's son, was also hit in the shooting and rescued by the police themselves. According to the Civil Police, father and son received immediate care, are doing well and are not at risk to their lives.

The other three victims of the shooting were rescued shortly afterwards: two of them were transported by Metro security agents and the fifth by a Firefighters team. The health status of these three people has not been disclosed at this time.

According to the Civil Police, the incident was registered in the 8th Police District (Brás/Belenzinho). CNN Brasil tries to contact Davi Soares de Carvalho's defense.
