Actor Sean Penn, 65, will be the director and screenwriter of a film about an American police officer who is trapped in the attack by Donald Trump supporters on the Capitol, in the United States, which took place on January 6, 2021. According to Variety, the film will be produced by Warner Bros. and Bradley Cooper would be cast to play the protagonist.

Without many details about the plot being released yet, it is not known whether the political attack will be the focus of the production or the background. Production is expected to begin in mid-2027.

The attack on the Capitol occurred when thousands of Donald Trump supporters invaded Congress during the confirmation of the electoral victory of Democrat Joe Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 presidential elections.

Sean Penn, known for his political work, attended the public hearings of the legislative committee that investigated the episode and even called Trump an "enemy of humanity" in an interview. The future of production, however, remains uncertain given the negotiation of the purchase of Warner Bros. by Paramount. David Ellison, CEO of Skydance Media, who is close to the US president and a declared supporter.

Sean Penn recently won his third Oscar for "One Battle After Another," directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and also received Oscars for his performances in "Mystic River" and "Milk." As a director, he has directed films such as "The Indian Runner", "Into the Wild" and "The Pledge".
