Screenwriter Rene Belmonte, known for his work on "Sex, Love and Traição", "Se Eu Fosse Você" and "Assalto ao Banco Central", died at the age of 55, according to a post on social media by the Brazilian Association of Screenwriters (Abra) this Tuesday (26).

"Rene was one of those people who carry many lives within one. He was a screenwriter, director, playwright, father, biker. Someone who seemed to move between affection, the road and writing - always with a critical and humorous look at life", they wrote.

In addition to those already mentioned, Rene worked on projects such as "Entre Lençóis", "Novo Mundo", "De Pernas pro Ar 3", "Os Ausentes" and "DPA 3", among others.

According to Abra, the screenwriter was recently dedicating his efforts to a career in theater and directing short films, such as the Brazilian superhero work "Originários".

"Beyond the titles, there is the presence of an author who helped write an important part of our audiovisual memory. The professional colleague, the creative partner, the man of humor, movement and affection", says the publication's caption.

Belmonte had an active participation in the creation of the former Screenwriters Association (AR) and the Brazilian Screenwriters Copyright Management Society (Gedar).

"His contribution belongs not only to the works he wrote, but also to the collective path of appreciation of those who write for the audiovisual. At this moment, we sympathize with his family, his friends, co-workers and all the people who lived with him. Thank you, Rene, for the stories, for your presence and for the paths opened", concludes the text.
