Uruguay sought a draw with Saudi Arabia after coming up short in their first game in Group H of the 2026 World Cup. The teams finished 1-1 at the Hard Rock Stadium, in Miami, in the United States.

The South Americans started well, but the Saudis exerted pressure at the end of the first half and scored the first goal. When the break came around, only Uruguay was seen on the field. Marcelo Bielsa's team swallowed their opponents, reached a draw, and barely managed to turn the score around.
