São Paulo player scores first own goal of the World Cup in USA x Paraguay

The United States are beating Paraguay 2-0 this Friday (12), at the Los Angeles Stadium, in a game valid for the first round of Group D of the World Cup. The goal was scored by Damián Bobadilla, a São Paulo player, who placed the ball against his own goal.

At the seven-minute mark of the game, winger Christian Pulisic passed two markers and invaded the area. The ball fell to midfielder Weston McKennie, who attempted the pass and saw Bobadilla intercept the action and score an own goal.

This was the second own goal for the Paraguayan team in the history of the tournament. In 2006, defender Carlos Gamarra scored, after just four minutes, the goal that gave England a 1-0 victory.

Before the match began, FIFA held an opening ceremony, the third of this edition of the World Cup. Anitta, Lisa, Future, Tyla and Rema were the musical artists who performed at the event.
