Santos' priority will be to provide quality to the squad in the window, says president
After a first window of 2026 marked by adjustments to the squad and specific movements in the market, Santos ended the Brazilian football transfer period with 32 players available. The board prioritized the reduction of the group and the arrival of reinforcements for sectors considered to be in need.
In total, six athletes were added to the squad: defender Lucas Veríssimo, midfielder Christian Oliva, midfielder Gabriel Menino and attackers Rony, Moisés and Gabriel Barbosa.
Meanwhile, the club carried out a significant overhaul. Of the group that was available for the 2025 season, 12 players left the team. Two definitive negotiations yielded revenue for Santos' coffers, while another nine athletes were loaned to different clubs.
The result of this was not positive. Santos was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Campeonato Paulista against Novorizontino and only qualified for the playoffs of the Copa Sudamericana. In the Brasileirão, Peixe fights against the relegation zone. The only competition in which the team from Baixada Santista had no scares was in the Copa do Brasil, where they are classified for the round of 16 and will face Remo.
With that in mind, a great escape for Santos is new signings in the next transfer window. On CNN Esportes S/A this Sunday (7), Marcelo Teixeira, president of Santos, praised the squad and said that the club has priority in some positions.
Santos has a good group of players, but our priority, without doing any kind of crazy thing, but within this reality, is to reinforce Santos with a view to these upcoming competitions next semester. We have some priorities for positions that the Technical Department indicated, but without any type of illusion or creating expectations among the fans.

The president also evaluated Peixe's first half of the year, which according to him, was positive.
We knew the difficulties were going to happen. A team that leaves the second division, has a difficult year in 2025, continues to have a general restructuring process at the club, but what is important is what? We achieved all of our semester goals. We are in the Brazilian Championship, we qualified in the Brazilian Cup and the South American Cup.
