Samarco signs agreement for self-production of wind energy
Samarco signed a partnership with Casa dos Ventos for the self-production of wind energy, in a long-term agreement that provides for the supply of 45 average MW of renewable energy from 2027.
The operation involves the mining company's shareholding in the Serra do Tigre Wind Complex, located between Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
The partnership was approved by Cade (Administrative Council for Economic Defense) this Monday (2) and will proceed to the implementation stages.
With the initiative, Samarco seeks to reinforce its goal of reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2032 and achieving neutrality by 2050. The company states that it already operates with 100% electrical energy from renewable sources.
