Salah gets emotional as he bids farewell to Liverpool: "We won everything"
Mohamed Salah ended his career as a Liverpool player this Sunday (24). The striker, who played for the English team for nine seasons, received a standing ovation at Anfield after the 1-1 draw with Brentford, in the last round of the Premier League.
In an interview with the "Sky Sports" channel, Salah spoke about the decision to leave the club and the emotion experienced in recent days. "It's very complicated. We left our youth here, sharing everything from beginning to end. We didn't even dream of what we achieved, but we did it for this club. We put it back where it belongs," said the Egyptian, mentioning full-back Andrew Robertson, who is also saying goodbye to the team.
"That's our message to the players in the dressing room. Look, the club is now fighting for everything. The fans won't accept anything less than that. They don't care that much about the result, as long as you give yourselves and give your blood here. They will love you forever," he continued.
"Collectively and individually, we won everything. The most important thing when we're leaving is that the fans recognize what you did for the club, me and him. That's the most important thing. It's not like: 'Oh, go away soon. We don't want you anymore'. No, you see the love from the fans. That's the most important thing for me," concluded Salah.
Salah, Liverpool legend
Mohamed Salah built one of the most remarkable spells in Liverpool's history since his arrival in 2017. Signed from Roma, he quickly became an offensive reference at Anfield, surpassing the 250 goal mark and becoming the club's top scorer in the Premier League and European competitions.
The 33-year-old Egyptian was a central player in one of Liverpool's most successful phases of the 21st century. With him, the club won the 2019 Champions League and the 2020 Premier League, ending a 30-year drought without the English title. In addition, the team also won the FA Cup, English League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
When leaving Liverpool in 2026, Salah ended his career as one of the greatest idols in the club's history, with more than 440 games and several individual records.
