Russian company seeks to use new technology to explore uranium in Brazil
If Brazilian legislation allows, the Russian state company Rosatom aims to work with uranium in the country, said Ivan Dybov, the company's CEO, during CNN Talks: New Era of Mining, held this Tuesday (30), in São Paulo, bringing together authorities, experts and sector leaders.
Dybov also highlighted to CNN Brasil that the company plans to introduce new uranium exploration technologies in the country.
In April, NBEPar (Núcleo Brasil Energia Participações), the holding company of the Diamante group in the nuclear sector, and Uranium One Group JSC, a subsidiary of Rosatom, signed an agreement to create the joint venture Nadina Minerals.
The new company will focus on the development of exploration projects for critical and strategic minerals in Brazil, in a move aligned with the growing global demand for inputs essential to the energy transition.
Dybov states that he has "great expectations" about the partnership, and awaits the development of legislation to deepen the regulation of partnerships between foreign state-owned companies and private companies in the country.
According to the executive, the company's technology means that, when mining uranium, it is not necessary to destroy large volumes of land or trees, making it a more "environmentally friendly and cheaper" process.

The meeting takes place at a time when Brazil is trying to transform its geological advantage into economic, industrial and diplomatic protagonism, with debates on financing, environmental licensing, innovation, sustainability, traceability, added value and greater participation of the country in the most noble stages of the mineral chain.
