Russian attack in Zaporizhzhia leaves at least one dead

A Russian attack on the city of Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine killed one person, injured seven and set fire to a residence and a shopping center, authorities said on Tuesday night (16).

The national police reported that a wave of dozens of drones killed one person who was in his car and injured seven others.

Images posted online showed flames inside a building and on a roof, and at least one facade reduced to rubble.

Regional governor Ivan Fedorov said there had been five attacks in the city. He stated that a fire broke out in a residence and a shopping center, and that an educational institution suffered damage.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the information. Russia and Ukraine deny deliberately targeting civilians in the war that began with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
