Russian attack hits residential area of Kharkiv and leaves one dead

A Russian guided bomb hit a residential building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Saturday, killing one person and injuring nine others, including two children, officials said.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said on Telegram that the bomb hit a residential house early in the morning, triggering an emergency operation involving rescuers, police, doctors and aid workers.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported that all nine injured were hospitalized.

One resident, Olena Tsybulnyk, told Reuters she barely had time to react after hearing the air raid siren before the building began to collapse around her.
