Russian attack leaves dead in Kiev
Russia attacked Kiev with missiles and drones during the early hours of this Sunday (24) in an intense offensive on the central region of the Ukrainian capital, including areas close to government buildings, residential buildings and schools.
The attack, which was confirmed by Russia, included 600 attack drones and 90 missiles launched from the air, sea and land, according to the Ukrainian Air Force, which says it destroyed or neutralized 549 drones and 55 missiles.

At least two people died and 56 were injured, local authorities said, citing preliminary figures. Air raid sirens sounded throughout the night as smoke billowed across the city following the strikes.
In a Telegram message, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia used the powerful Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile in the bombing.
According to Russian state news agencies, the country's forces hit targets in Ukraine using four types of missiles - Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal and Zircon - in retaliation for Kiev's attacks on civilian targets in Russia.
The targets, according to information from the Russian Ministry of Defense, were Ukrainian military command facilities, air bases and other enterprises of Ukraine's military-industrial complex.
The head of European Union diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, criticized the use of nuclear-capable missiles in a post on the social network "It is alleged that Moscow is using Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missiles - systems designed to carry nuclear warheads - as a political tactic of intimidation and demonstration of recklessness in relation to nuclear policy."

The Oreshnik missile
This is the third time that the missile, capable of carrying nuclear or conventional warheads, has been used in Ukraine. Russia hit the town of Bila Tserkva in the Kiev region with the missile, Zelensky said. The target was not immediately clear.
Russia first used the Oreshnik, equipped with multiple warheads, against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro in November 2024. The missile was used a second time in January in the western region of Lviv.
President Vladimir Putin said the Oreshnik, which means "hazel" in Russian, travels at 10 times the speed of sound, or Mach 10, and is capable of destroying underground bunkers "three, four or more floors down."
The weapon travels "like a meteorite" and is immune to any missile defense system, Putin said, adding that several such missiles, even equipped with conventional warheads, they could be as devastating as a nuclear attack.
